Vista Ridge High School PTSA (“VRHS PTSA,” “we”) runs vrhs-ptsa.org for the families, students, staff and friends of Vista Ridge High School. This page explains what information the site collects and what we do with it. The short version: we collect only what we need to run our programs, we never sell it, and you can ask us about it any time.
What we collect
- Store and donations. When you buy memberships, spirit wear and PTSA items or donate, we collect your name, email, and what you ordered. Payments are processed by Square; we never see or store your card number. Square’s own privacy policy applies to the payment itself.
- Membership. When you join on this site or through Texas PTA we collect what Texas PTA asks for on every member: name, email, phone, home address, birth month and day, gender and member type, and for a student member the student ID and grade. We keep the membership roster Texas PTA requires, report members to Texas PTA through its membership system (MyPTEZ), and use the roster for PTSA communications. A sponsored staff membership records the name and school email of that staff member from the school directory.
- Staff profiles. Staff profiles (Favorite Things) hold what school staff chose to share about themselves so families can show appreciation. Staff can update or remove their own answers any time by asking the PTSA.
- Signups and forms. Volunteer signups and contact forms collect the details you type in, and go only to the volunteers who run that program.
- Board sign-in. PTSA board members and chairs may sign in with Google to update the site. We receive their name, email address and profile picture from Google. This sign-in is for board members only.
- Basic site logs. Like every website, our host records standard technical information (such as IP address and browser type) to keep the site running and secure.
What we do with it
- Fulfill your order, record your membership or gift, and send you a receipt.
- Run our programs: volunteer coordination, membership, events and fundraising.
- Send PTSA news to members and people who asked for it. You can unsubscribe from any email.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We share it with the services that make the site work (Square for payments, Google for board sign-in, the service that sends our email, our web host), with Texas PTA and National PTA as part of the membership records they require, each under its own privacy policy, and only as needed for that purpose. We may also share information when the law requires it.
Information you give us
What you type is what we keep. Please give us accurate details and tell us when they change. If you enter information about someone else (a family member, a student, a staff member you sponsor), make sure you may share it.
Keeping it safe
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, and we keep it only as long as our programs and the records Texas PTA and the law require. No website or service can promise perfect security, so we cannot guarantee that information will never be lost or misused, and we cannot be responsible for the practices of the outside services named above.
Children
The site is for adults. Any student name on the site is entered by a parent or guardian, who controls how it appears, and a student membership is entered by the adult who joins them. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children; if you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will remove it.
Cookies and outside content
The site uses only the cookies needed to run it (for example, keeping a board member signed in). Some pages embed content from Facebook, Google, or other services, and those services may set their own cookies under their own policies.
Your choices
Want to see, correct, or remove information we hold about you or your student? Email president@vrhs-ptsa.org and we will take care of it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears here with a new date at the top. This page is written in plain words for families; it is not legal advice, and where our wording is unclear, we will read it in the way that protects you and the VRHS PTSA both.
